1898. No Edition Remarks. 387 pages. No dust jacket. Green pictorial boards with gilt lettering. Contains black and white illustrations throughout. Front free endpaper and frontispiece are missing. Heavy tearing and creasing to rear free endpaper. Pages are lightly tanned with moderate foxing to endpapers and text block edges. Former owner's inscription to half title page, with a few small nicks along text block edge. Notable cracking to hinges, with exposed netting. Binding remains firm. Visible thumb-marking present throughout. Water staining to upper edges of rear pages, and to front paste-down edge. Boards have heavy shelf-wear with noticeable bumping and scuffing to corners, crushing to spine ends and considerate rub wear to surfaces. Heavy tanning to spine and edges.
