About this Item
This 9/34" x 7-1/2" book was published by Collins of London & Glasgow;there is no copyright date; however, it is clearly from the time between the world wars but it seems like it is from either the late 1920's or the early 1930's. The book is square, quite clean, with all four corners bumped and showing their underlying cardboard; the lower edge of the front board has a slight bit of wear. Spine ends are lightly bumped but the cloth is not damaged. The exterior is free of marks and stains and has only a very modest amount of wear (see photos). The book is about 120 pages long, but the pages are not numbered. The interior is very clean and completely free of writing, stray marks, stains and page damage. The paper is very thick and consequently not flexible by intention; it is slightly toned and and not at all brittle; end pages have some slight toning. Hinges are strong and not damaged in any way. It is a wonderful variety of 22 short stories, with a variety of messages about proper moral conduct & behavior, as well as covering many different eras. Variety and quality are the hallmarks of this book. Each story has at least one black and white line drawing, plus there is the frontispiece plus two other full page color illustrations which are hard to find due to the lack of page numbers. The stories range from less than 2 pages with "Making a Garden Pond" to more than 14 as with "The Hush of 'Doone'". Seller Inventory # BMR-2020-3-28-4
