Oblong folio measuring 15" x 11". String-tied navy blue leather over stiff paper boards with "photographs" stamped in gilt on the front board. Very good album with some wear on the board edges and rubbing with near fine contents. An extensive scrapbook of clippings depicting 1930s and early 1940s Hollywood stars and their young children. The album features press photos and candids from newspapers and magazines with printed captions following the celebrity families of decade. Some of the captions just list the child while others provide a short description of the image. One of these reads, "Al Jolson is a circus-lover of the old school. Here he shows Al Jr. the wonders of the chimpanzee cage;" another reads, "like father, like son, Look at the intense expression on Johnny Tract s face as he and Dad, Spencer, watch the nags in Riviera Steeplechase." Some of the images offer exclusive first looks at the celebrity newborns such as Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. s daughter Daphne or Roy Rogers "newcomer," Linda Lou. Other photographs show the families playing and rollicking around their homes or children visiting their famous parents on the set of movies. One photo shows Fred Astaire and his young son dancing in their living room; another shows John Garfield acting as a horse for his young daughter Catherine.
