The book is a Cupples & Leon reprint of the edition first published in in 1927 by the W.A. Wilde Company. It is a classic story of a courageous dog and his young master. I would guess that this edition was published in the 1950's. The intact dustjacket features a portrait of the The Sea Dog by Howard Hastings, it is price clipped and shows some chipping at the top of the front cover and spine; it is protected by a mylar cover.
