Dark black cloth boards good plus, gold text. Dust jacket inside flap front and back has large tears , chips . A very hard book to find. Content: To understand tis name one must turn back he pages of history back to the year 1675, when this house was built, and the secret roo was well planned at that time. There was no access to the room except by the removal of a board located in the attic floor, near the chimney. When this board was removed, there appeared narrow steps leading down into a room. This room had its windows, its fireplace, and everything necessary to meet one's needs. The room had a strange history here were sheltered refugees from the South, and sometimes natives of the Northland. In times of peace , this room became a storehouse of valuable treasures for safe keeping. The writer's recollection of the old house dates back to the time when she was deposited there while her mother attended service at the church. Great Aunt Betsy Graves was always at home, and willing to entertain and vice versa, she was willing to be entertained. One day, after this girl had reached her teens, she inadvertently heard the secret room mentioned, and her curiosity was aroused never to be squelched. Finally, she decided to explore that region with thed aide of a girl friend. The results of their exploration art told in the book. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall. Seller Inventory # 5322
