A lovely example of this work of natural history from the early nineteenth century. Published anonymously this work is believed to have been written by Mary Roberts. Roberts was a woman of letter who wrote extensive on subject of natural history. Bound in the publisher's original cloth binding this charming work of natural history is aimed at a juvenile audience. Illustrated with engraved plates. In the publisher's original cloth binding with gilt titles to the spine. Externally smart, with some minor wear to the extremities including a light crease to the front board. Three small orange paint marks to the rear board, with additional bumping to spine. Internally firmly bound, with light straining to one of the plates. Page are bright and generally clean with some light spotting and the odd handling marks.
