With another gift inscription present from Craig (Timberlake, an American stage actor). A privately issued work commemorating the 1922 production of the Merchant of Venice, providing Belasco's commentary on the play, the cast of characters, photo plates, and tributes. David Belasco was an American theatrical producer, as well as a playwright and director. He was influential in American stage design, and used emerging technology to create state of the art theaters in New York (see Wikipedia). GOOD condition. Moderate to heavy chipping and minor tearing along the extremities, with some small areas of loss. Spine chipped and worn at the extremities. A two inch split along the upper front hinge. Minor soiling and general toning. Text solid, with minor toning. Bookseller Inventory # 009204
