About this title

Synopsis:

"People are stupid, Davis Wolfgang Hawke thought as he stared at the nearly empty box of Swastika pendants on his desk." So begins Spam Kings, an investigative look into the shady world of email spammers and the people trying to stop them.

This compelling exposé explores the shadowy world of the people responsible for today’s junk-email epidemic. Investigative journalist Brian McWilliams delivers a fascinating account of the cat-and-mouse game played by spam entrepreneurs in search of easy fortunes and anti-spam activists.

McWilliams chronicles the activities of several spam kings, including Hawke, a notorious Jewish-born neo-Nazi leader. You’ll follow this 20-year-old’s rise in the trade, where he became a major player in the lucrative penis pill market—a business that would make him a millionaire and the target of lawsuits. You’ll also meet cyber-vigilantes, such as Susan Gunn, who have taken up the fight against spammers like Hawke.

Explore the sleazy spammer business practices, the surprising new partnership between spammers and computer hackers, and the rise of a new breed of computer viruses designed to turn the PCs of innocent bystanders into secret spam factories.

Terms of Sale:

We guarantee the condition of every book as it's described on the Abebooks web sites. If you're dissatisfied with your purchase (Incorrect Book/Not as Described/Damaged) or if the order hasn't arrived, you're eligible for a refund within 30 days of the estimated delivery date. If you've changed your mind about a book that you've ordered, please use the Ask bookseller a question link to contact us and we'll respond within 2 business days.

Shipping Terms:

Thank you for your business. All orders are processed within 24 hours unless there are unusual or mitigating circumstances. Unless we inform you otherwise, this is also your confirmation of shipment.

Please be aware that media mail within the United States can take upwards of 7-21 days to be delivered despite the earlier or later delivery times that major internet sellers may indicate.(Shipping during the holiday season and when there is inclement weather almost always adds additional shipping time to these estimates.) Sometimes media mail can arrive in just a few days but the postal service offers no guarantees on the time required for media mail. If you have requested expedited service, you may expect to receive your order within 2-4 days.

Postal tracking and delivery confirmation is used on all orders except replacement shipments for lost orders and APOs. Media mail tracking, generally speaking, notifies the recipient and the shipper only when the package arrives in the customer's zip code-not necessarily that it has been received by the customer. Customers, however, can at least verify that the postal service has been notified of a pending pickup.

Please note that the US Postal Service picks up from our offices daily. On Saturday, we deliver directly to our local post office, so your packages are always in transit within 24-48 hours regardless of what the postal tracking might indicate on the USPS website. USPS tracking is, unfortunately, not "live" like FEDEX or UPS Tracking. The USPS is working on improving this aspect of media mail tracking. (Additionally, the postal service appears to be replacing personnel, which in our opinion may lead to additional delays in the processing of mail.)

International orders should arrive within 10-30 days depending on the country of destination. We have had some recent issues with customs delays, in some countries, due to security enhancements, so please be patient if your order seems to take longer than usual to be delivered.

Should you need to contact us, we can be reached at the following email address: aurigadistributionservices@earthlink.net

This is an automated message. Should your question concern another issue, you will receive another email as soon as possible.
