This is a fictionalised account of Louise d'Esparbes, Comtesse de Polastron. Originally written in French by Princess Marthe Bibesco, this work is described as a 'historical biography told with all the accomplished charm of a gifted novelist'. Written by Princess Marthe Bibesco (1886-1973) was a Romanian-French writer, socialite, and political hostess. She spent her childhood at the nobleman Lahovary's estates and started writing novels in 1908. Translated by Edward Marsh (1872-1953) was a British polymath, translator, and arts patron. He was the sponsor of the Georgian school of poets and was friends to the likes of Rupert Brooke and Siegfried Sassoon. Seller Inventory # 17088
