This is a beautifully illustrated, antique copy of "TALES FROM SHAKESPEARE" by Charles and Mary Lamb. 1918; Harper & Brothers; New York. This edition features a color frontispiece and numerous black & white illustrations (many of which are full-page) by Louis Rhead. There is an Artist's Preface and an Author's Preface at the front. The contents are as follows: The Tempest; A Midsummer Night's Dream; Winter's Tale; Much Ado about Nothing; As You Like It; Two Gentlemen of Verona; Merchant of Venice; Cymbeline; King Lear; Macbeth; All's Well that Ends Well; Taming of the Shrew; Comedy of Errors; Measure for Measure; Twelfth Night, or What You Will; Timon of Athens; Romeo and Juliet; Hamlet, Prince of Denmark; Othello; Pericles, Prince of Tyre. Condition: There are a few tiny areas on the front cover where the top paper layer has peeled. Clean back cover. Tiny, light stain near the top of the spine. The lettering on the spine has mostly faded. Tiny cloth tear at 3 of the cover corners. Small cloth tears at the top and bottom edges of the spine. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached. Nice interior - the pages are lightly age-toned and clean with only a small, light stain at the lower-outer corner of pages 348 & 349. Previous owner's bookplate affixed to the front end paper. Overall the book is in Good+ condition. Seller Inventory # ABE-1718038097055
