Includes a music review and a poem by Edward Abbey, who would go on to briefly edit The Thunderbird before his antics resulted in his removal as editor and subsequent shutdown of the magazine. Abbey reviews the works of prolific Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos, in an essay entitled "The Primitive in Music," and contributes a poem, "String Quartet."
