About this Item
A catalogue for the nineteenth century German construction toy for children, 'Anchor Stone Blocks'. With several colour illustrations demonstrating the blocks. Undated, dated from reviews to the rear which are dated 1887/1888. With descriptions of the various boxes and price lists as well as reviews for prospective buyers. Loosely inserted is the order form and an envelope which has been opened, with the address for orders stamped to the front. Richter's blocks saw inspiration from Friedrich Frobel, the creator of the Kindergarten system of education. Frobel used wooden blocks for children. Anchor stones were first produced by Otto Lillenthal and his brother Gustav. They created stone blocks and had limited commercial success. Richter bought the rights for these designs and began producing them. They were an instant success. Illustrations to this work remain vibrant. In the original paper wraps. Front wrap is detached but present. Some shelfwear to the edges. Small chip to the head of wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are slightly age toned due to paper used. The occasional spot to pages. Good. Seller Inventory # 617L4
