Three volumes in one (bound first, third, second): [24],366;[20],272;[16],302,[2] pp. Half titles and separate title pages for Parts III and II. Contemporary calf, gilt leather label, raised bands, spine ruled in gilt. Contemporary woodcut bookplate, 'Monasterii Murensis'. Calf significantly worn, spine ends chipped, contents moderately foxed. Good plus. Latin translation of Mabillon's 1691 'Traité des études monastiques,' encouraging study for monks, including those belonging to non-scholarly orders. Jean Mabillon (1632-1707) was a French Benedictine monk of the Congregation of Saint Maur, celebrated as the founder of paleography. Bookseller Inventory # z07304
