About this Item

Olive cloth with light edge and corner wear and mild aging. Book is squae and binding is secure with no tears of parting. Remakable condition for this quite uncommon title.Beatrice Marean was the pen name of Mrs. Rene R. Snowden. Her husband was a prominent Doctor in Ocala, Florida and The Tragedies of Oak Hurst was based on an event in Ocala, which is called Magnolia Centre in the novel. The characters in the story were almost all thinly disguised citizens of Ocala, and the book caused a great disturbance in the community. The story is that Ocalans bought up copies of the book and destroyed them, making the novel very difficult to find today. Thic is a very attractive first edition, first printing of this scarce title. ; B&W Frontispiece; Small 8vo 7" - 8" tall; 401 pages. Bookseller Inventory # 14571
