About this Item
Later printing of the revised text. VG/-. Brown ribbed and pebbled cloth, gilt lettering. Lightly rubbed at extremities, a little board exposed top front corner, covers clean and bright. Ownership second free endpaper, otherwise clean throughout, binding and hinges sound. The book looks as though it was never used. Mahan was a professor of civil engineering at West Point, and wrote the difinitive (for the time) text on the subject. He was in the process of revising it when he died; Wood took over, a chapter on river improvements by the author's son was added, and it was published in 1875, shortly after the author's death. This is a wonderful copy of that revised text. Seller Inventory # 6509
