The volumes also contains what MacKenzie calls ".a Preliminary Account of the Rise, Progress, and Present State of the Fur Trade." in the United States. Volume I contains the fold-out "Map of MacKenzie's track from Ft. Chipewyan to the North Sea, in 1789." Map has clean crease tears. Wonderful section giving "Examples of the Chepewyan Tongues." Original full-leather with gilt lines and Morocco labels that have varied slightly with age. Text with some browning throughout. Frontis in place. Preface dated November 30, 1801. Volume One: 290pp; Volume Two: 312pp. plus appendix and table of contents. Prev. owner's name "Sara Davis" penned on title page.
