Complete four-volume set of this early collected edition of Poe. Original brown decorated cloth, stamped in gilt and blind. Spine lettering faded, cloth lightly worn and frayed at spine ends. Pages uniformly lightly browned from age. Overall a solid set in good or better condition. Commonly known as the Griswold Edition, this set includes a memoir by Rufus Wilmot Griswold, essays on Poe by N.P. Willis and James Russell Lowell, and a one-page forward by Poe's mother-in-law, Maria Clemm. This edition was first published by Redfield between 1850-1856. This 1859 edition is the first reprint edition and is complete in four volumes. All early editions of the Griswold set are scarce. Seller Inventory # 1249814
