A charming turn-of-the-century edition of this Silas Hocking novel. In an attractive pictorial cloth binding. Silas Hocking (1850-1935) was a Cornish novellist and Methodist clergyman, who produced many childrens' novels with a didactic tone. An incredibly prolific author his best-known work, 'Her Benny', was a best-seller in 1879. In a full in red cloth binding, with gilt stamps and lettering. Externally, generally smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine, and also to the extremities. Lightly rubbed in places. Presentation bookplate of Josepha Parkinson, Zion Chapel Attercliffe to front pastedown. Light foxing to the endpapers. Rear hinge is strained. Internally, firmly bound. Page are generally clean, with some just some light foxing to first and last pages. Good. Seller Inventory # GEN1-B-27
