Volume XIII: The Christmas Books of Mr M A Titmarsh Collated, complete. William Makepeace Thackeray was famous for his satirical works. Vanity Fair brought Thackeray his fame and is a panoramic portrait of English society. His earliest works were written under pseudonyms such as Charles James Yellowplush, Michael Angelo Titmarsh and George Savage Fitz-Boodle. His parodies and satire tended towards attacks on high society, military prowess, the institution of marriage and hypocrisy. During the Victorian era Thackeray was ranked second only to Charles Dickens. Uniformly bound in half morocco bindings. Externally, very smart with rubbing to the spines and extremities. Fading to spines also. Volume IX is particularly rubbed to the spine. Bookseller's blind stamp, City Book Mart , Newcastle on Tyne to rear endpaper of all volumes. Internally, firmly bound.
