First British edition, 1956. good+, lettering on spine lightly rubbed. Good unclipped dust jacket, with a 1/2" chip at head, minor chipping to corners and light uneven dust soil. Killens was an important figure in the Black Arts Movement; African-American civil rights activist; creator of the Black Writerââ_x0082_¬â_x0084_¢s Conference. Around 1950, Killens co-founded with Rosa Guy and others a writers' group that became the Harlem Writers Guild (HWG). Youngblood, his first novel, dealing with a black Georgia family in the early 1900s, was read and developed at HWG meetings in members' homes. Ships from Dinkytown in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
