Vintage art refers to works created from the turn of the 20th century into the 1940s. Just as a wine's vintage tells you when it was produced, the time-frame and style of collectible vintage art is easily recognizable in the work. Some of its most iconic pieces are found in the advertisements created during the early 1900s. The lettering, the shape and look of the subject, and the clothing worn by models all create a feeling of whimsical nostalgia, and displaying it in the home creates a charming focal point.
One of the best examples of this period is vintage kitchen wall art. Turn-of-the-century ads for canned foods or seed packets bring a wonderful ambience to the kitchen and dining area of the home. Other exceptional choices include: Kellogg's Corn Flakes and Coca-Cola advertising, framed magazines from the time period, black-and-white photographs or sketches, and cookbooks. Many of these posters were created in the Post-Impressionist style of Toulouse-Lautrec's iconic Moulin Rouge La Goulue. These posters can range from the simplistic Le Cafe Martin by Charles Loupot to Achille Luciano Mauzan's vivid and delightful, Maccheroni Pianigiani, 1922.
Vintage bathroom wall art is another option for bringing these remembrances of the past into the home. From posters of Ivory soap to Art Deco advertisements of perfumes,;collectible vintage art prints fit well into bathroom decor. Pieces such as Erte's designer gown posters, advertisements for London's Pears Soap, Henri Menier's Starlight Savon baby bath soap, Art Nouveau poster, La Belle Epoque, and Leonetto Cappiello's colorful ad for shaving cream, Lampocrema, are fun, playful pieces. Artists like Menier and Cappeillo, along with Charles Loupot, A.M. Cassandre, and Camille Bouchet created some of the most memorable and historically significant vintage art prints produced during this time period. Many exceptional works are now collected through purchasing vintage kitchen and bathroom art, and you can find a vast selection of posters, prints, and magazines from our sellers' collection shelves.
