"This bibliography represents the most important contribution of its kind since the publication in 1933 of Robert Ernest Cowan's enlarged "Bibliography of California History." It includes works not caught in Gowan's large-meshed and carelessly thrown net" (Preface, Lawrence Clark Powell, President California Library Association). DJ rubbed with wear along edges.
