Cornerstone work on the Swedish system of gymnastics, intoduced by Posse and Hartvig Nissen to America in the 1880s. The Swedish system was distinguised from the earlier-introduced German system in that it was less rigid and stressed freer movements and elasticity. A very nice copy indeed, the finest we have seen.
