Pen inscription to half title page. Light cracking to gutters but binding remains firm. Hinges are heavily cracked with netting exposed but boards remain attached. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with noticeable tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has heavier tanning with soft crushing to ends. Book has a slight forward lean.

Boards have moderate edge wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Crushing to spine ends with small splits and fraying to cloth. Notable tanning to spine and edges. Scuffing and light marking overall. Book is notably bowed and forward leaning. Faint white water stains to boards.

Doubleday, Doran is the original publisher as stated on the title page so this is probably not a reprint edition. However, neither the book's spine nor the dust jacket list any publisher and the jacket lists no price. Illustrated with black-and-white photographs. The dust jacket is protected by a Brodart mylar cover. Not an ex-library copy. No remainder marks. Most books shipped within 24 hours. All books mailed with delivery confirmation in a heavy cardboard box. The dust jacket is missing pieces at the head and bottom of the spine panel which also is lightly sunned. The jacket also has some foxing or staining. There is a bookplate from a previous owner at the top of the front inside cover which is also covering most of a signature. The book's boards are partially sunned and stained (especially the rear board). The book was discounted at some point as there is a rubber-stamped notation "2 OY .37 or? 4 for 1.39" on the rear fly-leaf. Good condition in good dust jacket. Contents are very good.
