Book Signed
Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. Small thick 8vo, 3/4 brown morocco, somewhat rubbed & worn, spine in six panels, 346pp., publisher's ad leaf. Possibly lacking a frontispiece. The free front endpaper is ink inscribed "Dr. J. S. Perkins | with the compliments of | Geo. H. Napheys | 3/14/70." A publishing peculiarity: this book was evidently subjected to being issued in at least three different titles within the space of two years, each title being differently worded, though essentially with the same messaging. See ATWATER/HOOLIAN 416, and Volume III of that bibliography as well. A good copy. Inscribed by Author(s).

Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 1870 copy in very good condition with some minor signs of wear and age. The covers have some mild wear with some heavy sunning to the spine. The binding is good and sound. There is a penciled name inscription to the front fep. The interior is toned from age with some light foxing through out. Along with that, there may be the very occasional page with some kind of other minor imperfection such as a light bit of soiling or grubbiness, tiny tear or chip, minor interior crack, creased page corner, etc. Generally though, it's a nice copy. The book measures approximately 7 1/2 inches by 5 inches and is 346 pages long. Including the frontispiece, it is illustrated with 5 black and white plates.
