Book First Edition Signed
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Self-Published by the Author, El Paso, TX. 1954. Hardcover. First Edition. Book is tight, square, and unmarked but for a long gift presentation note on the dedication page for Aug 6, 1954 from Dorrance Roderick, President of the El Paso Times newspaper to Samuel D. Young, Chairman of the El Paso National Bank; this also contains a note validating the signature of the author. Book Condition: Very Good; suntoning to spine; shelfwear to head, tail, and tips; fabric wear to upper tips; this book appears to have been around moisture at one time as the front endpapers have some waviness and the gift inscription has bled a little bit; no affect on pages or binding. No DJ. Brown cloth boards and spine with bright black lettering on the spine and front board. Clean internals. Interior hinges are sound and not split. 224 pp 8vo. This book is stamped on the spine 1896 and VII. The author was a Sunday contributor to the El Paso Times under a heading "El Paso, Then and Now" from August 24, 1952 to July 12, 1953 (was still running at the time of publication). The author collected articles, photographs, and interviews and wrote 52 articles which fill this book. There are some references and illustrations pertaining to the interim between 1880 and 1954 to help fill in the material. He chose to write about 1896 because it was it was the year of his birth. This is Volume VII because he planned to write about El Paso from 1536 (Cabeza De Baca) to 1896 (his Birth and a time he was very familiar with) and he is still planning to write the other six volumes divided between the years 1536-1885. A very complete book on El Paso history that shows how much it has grown from it founding to the present day. A clean very presentable copy. Signed by Author(s).
Condition: Fair. Signed Copy . Book Good. No dust jacket. Volume 7. Signed by author on dedication page. Gifter's inscription on front endpage. (El Paso, Texas, History).
