Report made to the legislature of the state of New York, in recognition of the growing importance of historic preservation, with a long section on Central Park in New York City. With a letter signed by Stuyvesant Fish, to William Beverly Rogers, stating that the book includes a history of Central Park and the forts located therein; attached at top edge to ffep. Stuyvesant Fish (1851 - 1923), one of the New York Fish, son of Hamilton Fish, governor of New York; Stuyvesant made his fortune as president of the Illinois Central Railroad. With the armorial bookplate of Alfred Chapin Rogers at the front paste down. Much material on Central Park, pages 383 - 489; also Hudson River poem 'A Foreign Poem on the Hudson in Goethe's Day'. Thick 8vo, 612pp, 65 plates, maps, profusely illustrated. Dark green gilt cloth, gilt title at spine. Cloth a little rubbed, short split top of spine, rear inner hinge a bit wobbly, but holding.
