Hard Cover. Condition: Good binding. First Edition. First Edition of M. B. de Courcy's Sons of the Red Rose. The preface sassily states that "the writer [.] was the victim of an attempt to work single track from a double track stand point. The result, of the old endeavor to pass two trains proceeding in opposite directions, successfully on the same track, was attended by the usual mixup. It being decided that a man with a skin full of broken bones would be out of place on a modern engine, he thought of reducing his personal experience to paper." With frontispiece and seven additional plates. Library stamp on the title page, not affecting the text. Binding slightly cocked; silverfishing; bumping to the corners; wear and sunning to the spine. Red cloth, with gilt illustrations and lettering, and black decorative borders. Overall in Good condition. All edges red. Good binding.

Red covers with gilt drawing and lettering and black borders on front and gilt lettering on spine. Most of spine is faded and bottom is very light. Ends of spine are worn and frayed. Corners are bumped and worn, with some splitting. Covers have some scuffing and edgewear. Front endpaper has a price written in pencil near top corner. Second page from back has some pencil markings.
