The author was working as a secret agent in Prague prior to World War II. Two years later he was incarcerated in Plotzensee prison, and, till the end of the war was incarcerated under daily threat of execution. This is his story. Creasing of the top book corners with noticeable rubbing of the book panels and less noticeable rubbing of the edges. Removal of a sticker can be seen to the top right hand corner of the front panel, and, to the top right hand corner of the rear panel. White coloured sticker has been placed to the lower edge of the back strip. Tanning and staining of the text block edges with tanning of the pages. Previous owners' rubber stamp to the top edge of the verso of the front panel and lower edge of the title page (well-known Holocaust scholars). First Paperback Edition.
