This famed college football coach cut his teeth at Illinois College (1934-36), but is remembered as head football coach at the University of Illinois from 1942 to 1959, where he led the team to two Rose Bowl victories (1947 and 1952) and the 1953 Big Ten co-championship. Large bold signature in blue fineline, heavy stock 5" X 3" card, n.p., 1980 January 22. Fine. With original envelope. Likely one of Eliot's last autographs, for he died on February 24 the following month.
