Briggs was U.S. Ambassador to Korea, Brazil and Czechoslovakia, and spent his free time hunting duck, goose, pheasant, guinea fowl and pigeon in those countries, and in Peru, Cuba, Liberia, Patagonia, and China. Very good.

Briggs was a writer and former Ambassador to seven countries. Briggs's favorite recreation was shooting waterfowl and upland game birds on the continents on which he had served, including Korea, Brazil and Czechoslovakia, and spent his free time hunting duck, goose, pheasant, guinea fowl and pigeon in those countries, and in Peru, Cuba, Liberia and Patagonia as well, and competition bat shooting in wartime China. Includes an account of Ernest Hemingway turning his fishing boat "Pilar" into an armed warship, and fishing for marlin while hunting U-Boats.
