Softcover. Condition: Very Good. Revised Edition. (printed wraps) [moderate wear, slight fading/browning at edges of covers, tiny ink number at upper right-hand corner of front cover]. (one B&W photographic plate) A "gentle comedy of college life" that "takes seven girls through three years of life in a woman's college." According to the introductory matter, the first production of the play was at the Pasadena Playhouse in 1936, under the title "Lark on the Wing"; according to the copyright page, it was previously copyrighted in 1932 under the title "Daisy Chain," and the present version is described as "revised [and] rewritten." (It was also given its first college production in 1940 -- appropriately at Mills College in Oakland, California.) While continuing to write for the stage, Lavery also carved out a not-particularly-distinctive career as a Hollywood screenwriter; several of his more prominent screen credits were actually his adaptations of his own plays "The First Legion" and "The Magnificent Yankee." (Although to be fair, he was a notable figure in the Screen Writers Guild, serving as its president for a couple of years in the mid-1940s.).
