Fascinating and thoroughly comprehensive company history of the "English China Clays Ltd." Profusely illustrated with reproductions of photographs in gravure, one color map as well as decorated initials at the beginning of each chapter. A complete and exhaustively illustrated history of the company documenting: managing directors; head office and branches; 22 clay pits and workers, settling pits and refining mica drags, drying kilns and linhays; stone quarries; ground china stone mills; Lee Moor brick works; power plants; water wheels; employees' houses and cottages; horse, motor, lorry and tramline transport; workshops and stores; export and shipping; and descriptions of clay uses in paper making and pottery. Staining, rubbing and scuffing to boards. Parts of decorated top-layer on boards chipped, particularly on back. 1" x 2" piece near gutter on bottom of free front endpaper missing.
