Condition: Fair. Cambridge: Macmillan and Co., 1861, 1862 and 1864. 1st edition. 3 volumes. 8vo. Volume 1 and 2 bound in publisher's pebbled blind-blocked green cloth with gilt-stamped spines and identical gilt front image of a loaded pack horse. Volume 3 bound in later 19th century 1/2 polished calf with marbled boards. 483pp + inserted maps, 418pp + inserted rear catalog, 524pp. Acceptable condition. Some edgewear and bumping to first two volumes. Edges tinted. Hinges to those volumes lightly cracked. Gilt image to the front board of first volume rubbed and dull. Light staining to the two blanks at the rear of first volume. Back strip cracked at page 336 of the first volume with some separation of the gatherings. Second volume with an early 20th century bookplate to the front pastedown and with a small bookplate on the blank verso of the colored front free endpaper. Spine and corners of third volume rubbed, with the spine gilt to the title-lettering worn away. Mild foxing to the front and rear gatherings of volume 3. Volume 3 trimmed when it was rebound, thus a bit shorter than the first two. Inquire if you need further information.
