Quarter leather and marbled boards. 118 high quality engravings (views of Rome) on 59 pp. Giuseppi Vasi?s ?Views of Rome? first appeared in 10 books between 1747-61, and the engravings were reissued under a number of titles, including this one, by his son, Mariano. The Vasi shop was located at the main entrance to Rome called the Strangers? Quarter, which catered to foreign travelers. It had in stock all sorts of books and prints desired by the educated traveler. Giuseppe?s major pupil was Giovanni Battista Piranesi, who honed his engraving techniques there.
