Book First Edition
Soft cover. Condition: Near Very Good. First Edition. 8vo. Wrappers. 164pp. Novel written in 1942, unearthed as a carbon in Goodman's old filing cabinet. The author (1911-1972) was famous during the Sixties as a social critic in disciplines including sociology, psychology, community planning, and education, but he felt that his true calling was as a literary artist. 'Appropriately, Goodman's own campaign in the Sixties for a more permissive attitude toward sexuality has helped relax censorship and make his book publishable at last.' There were also 750 hardback trade copies and 200 special copies. Wrappers and spine slightly faded, primarily the blank lower wrapper. Overall about Very Good.

Book
dt.EA. sehr guter Zustand, 292 S., Pappband, geb., m. Gramm 600.

Bottom corners very slightly bumped else a fine copy in bright, fine dust jacket with publisher's cancel price stamp on front flap, reducing printed price from $7.50 to $6.00. A scarce title in fine dust jacket, due to large format, and small first printing. "The authors indict past and present community plans for their failure to relate the technological way of life to the things men want most. They show how community planning can begin with man's deepest desires and evolve ways of life which have human meanings in a world seemingly out of human scale." *Nicely* 137.
