Hardcover - Later printing. Translated from the Provencal by Catherine Janvier. Introduction by Thomas A. Janvier. Later printings also include a note from the publisher which reprints letters from the author to Gladstone after the book first appeared - in his letter Gras describes the events in the novel as based on those which actually happened to his great-grandfather. This novel of the French Revolution is uncommon in its focus on the peasants of the South of France and their involvement, rather than on the aristrocracy or the leaders. Small duodecimo boundin rust-colored cloth with gold lettering on the spine and front cover, with a small decoration on the front. Good condition overall - some wear to the ends of the spine.
