Hardcover - 3rd printing. A work originally published in 1874, but scarce in any printing. Six stories illustrated by Kate Greenaway with four lovely black and white plates and smaller illustrations at the beginning of each story, decorations at the end of each one. The engravings were done by her father, John Greenaway. Bound in stiff boards with the frontispiece illustration reproduced in color on the front cover. 128 pp, plus bound in at the rear is a 32 pp catalogue of books for the young (catalogue is dated in 1882.) Floral endpapers. Fair condition only: the boards are quite worn at the edges, with the corners rounded off, and some scratching and rubbing. The cloth spine also shows some wear, but the title is still legible. Page 11-12 has a closed tear, not affecting the text, but otherwise the contents are good - the signatures are slightly pulled, but still tight, pages are only slightly toned, and the plates and other illustrations are lovely.
Decorative Cloth. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Kate Greenaway (illustrator). First Edition. 1st Edition 1875. A very early illustrated book by Kate Greenaway. Bound in the original red/gilt cloth with new endpapers. Book is very good with inscription to inner page. Contents good. Spine repaired professionally at top. Very un-common. More images can be taken upon request. Ref ###03829.
