Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. "Tales from the Aborigines come from the camp-fires of a race of people who have told and re-told the stories as an oral tradition from the beginning of time. Yet it is remarkable how frequently the incidents and heroes have their counterparts in other lands. Written down in an environment of aboriginal camp-life, by a man who has lived continually among them for fifty years, the tales reveal the mentality of a people - the Australoids - who still retain their age-old religion and culture." --- Presentation copy, inscribed, dated and signed by Author on Title Page. --- Original blue papered boards, lettered gilt on spine (22.1 cm height).
