Hardcover. Condition: Very Good Minus. No Jacket. Harvey S. Bissell; M. Perrey (illustrator). 230 pages; color illustration frontispiece of native girl (by Perrey); black & with photograph plates throughout, all with decorative tissue guards; endpapers and pastedowns illustrated with green map; bound in what appears to be Tapa cloth (according to outside sources, purportedly from Tonga); very rough-surfaced tan covers have brown swaths at edges and vertically, plus several dings; the front cover embossed decoration and title have lost nearly all their gilt, as has the spine title; most photograph plates are significantly foxed, front and back; page edges and margins have occasional foxing/brown-spotting; text itself quite bright and legible; binding still tight. A very good minus copy in this atypical binding.
