Hardcover. Condition: Fair. 1902, small 8vo, 247pp, chronological table of the historical events in Cleveland, Ohio's history. Slight silverfishing to the front cover, but very extensive on the rear cover, contents VG. Orlando John Hodge (1828 - 1912), journalist, was born in Hamburg, NY. He worked his passage on a lake boat to Cleveland in 1842, and after serving in the Mexican War, he attended Geauga Seminary. During the Civil War he lived in Litchfield, Conn. and served two terms in the Connecticut legislature. In 1867 he returned to Cleveland, where he held various political positions and was owner-editor of the Sun and Voice, 1878 - 89. He compiled a family history, and under the initials O.J.H. published his autobiography: REMINISCENCES, 2 vols, Cleveland, 1902 -10." See Coyle, OHIO AUTHORS AND THEIR BOOKS. This book is a combination autobiography and history of Cleveland.
