Book
Hard cover. Horizontal format, red and white paper over boards, Blue titles. 53 p. : 19 x 24 cm. In verse, and inspired by a road trip across country, this volume about the regions of continental America was published posthumously by Barbara Holden Yeomans 4 years after her husband's death in Newport, NH, for the American Bicentennial. Holden was an editor, writer, and poet of national reputation; and also was active in his community, founding the Sarah Josepha Hale Award in 1956, still given annually by Richards Free Library in Newport to a New England based writer. He received the 1965 award himself, in a surprise move by the organizing committee, sharing the podium with Louis Untermeyer. Proceeds for this book go to the Holden-Yeomans Fund at Richards Library. New. No dust jacket as issued. Unread, still in shrink-wrap; from the author's attic. 1 0.0.
