According to Howes, this book is the leading authority on the early Indian wars in Colorado. It was written by Private Ovando J. Hollister for the regiment by an eye witness and participant. Accounts of the Apache Canon Fight, battle of La Glorieta Pass, Texans of Sibley's Brigade, etc. Originally published in 1863 as the "History of the First Regiment of Colorado Volunteers." That original is the rarest book printed in Colorado (Howes).
