This informational booklet focuses on the artistic and architectural aspects of the Mission Inn in Riverside, California. The pamphlet begins with a brief history of the Mission Inn and proceeds to give tour of the inn with highlights of its architecture, decorative features, and aesthetics. The rest of the booklet describes different parts of the hotel and their unique decorations and features. Excerpt from Page 3: "The purpose of this booklet is primarily to enable guests to find and enjoy the more important of the amazing number of art and historic objects of special interest to be seen at Mission Inn, and secondarily to be taken home and used for reference and for living over, in retrospect, the 'World Tour Through Mission Inn.'" The Mission Inn was originally an adobe house built in 1875 by Christopher Columbus "C. C." Miller of Wisconsin. C. C. was part of a group of settlers from the eastern states who moved west and established Riverside in 1869. In 1876, the house became known as the Mission Inn after C. C.'s wife, Maryanne Miller, began taking boarders. One of their four children, Frank A. Miller, is credited as being the founder of the inn because he was put in charge due to his father's long trips away from home as an engineer. Frank's sister, Alice, is also considered one of the inn's original owners and managers. The Mission Inn still stands and operates to this day.
