Decorative Cloth. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Illustrated with b/w photographs and a color frontispiece of the course by H. Percy Heard. 96 pages and 6 fold-out charts follow the text. Foreword by P. A. Ward-Thomas. Royal North Devon is the earliest links course in England, formally arranged by Old Tom Morris in 1860, with insidious native patches of extremely sharp reeds creating impenetrable hazards. The reeds' points are so sharp and hard that photos exist of gutta percha balls found impaled on them! Ponies and sheep still have grazing rights over a course ever threatened by erosion from the sea. Excepting the Blackheath Golf Club, the Royal North Devon Golf Club is the oldest in England. Well worth the journey to Horace G. Hutchinson's home links. Original blue cloth with gilt lettering and decoration unmarked and not faded, tiniest bump upper corner. No bookplate or former owner name. Contents clean, bright, and unmarked. Covers protected in mylar. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Privately Published.
