Woods, who printed his name atop the inside front cover in 1947, while he was in Washington, D.C., having just served in the Navy during World War 2. Woods (and perhaps his predecessor Alfred Cleveland Weed) annotated this copy on many pages, in margins and in the text itself, also pencilling a note on the inside back cover.
