A few pages have light fingerprints or light soil and there is a tear at the top of page 13 that does not effect the type. Hardcover. Condition: Fair. 1st Edition. Scarce. This 1905 original first edition book is in fair condition but could be fully repaired to its former glory. Book has pulled away from the spine and some pages are loose, but ALL PAGES ARE FULLY INTACT. Grand look back to before autos in Kentucky and other blue grass areas capturing each major estate and all their associated buildings. Some of the estates included Sunny Meade, Elmerdorf, Maxwelton, Marchmont, Ingleside and Walnut Hall just to name a few. Unusual to capture this many photographs for this time period. Only five libraries report having a copy. Dark teal 'cobble stone' type cover with gilt titling on cover has much shelf wear. (BR) Box 203.

Green Cloth. Condition: Poor. First Edition. ORIGINAL - NOT A REPRINT! Kentucky history. Profuse with b/w photographs and engravings by author/publisher. Printed by Art Dep't Britton Printing Co., Cleveland, OH. Photographs of estates as well as famous race horse stock. Index of Country Estate Owners and one of Country Places. Pebbled green cloth with gilt titles. Even though the following detailed description of various defects is quite extensive, please be aware this mostly affects the covers, binding and beginning / ending pages. Most of the text and images within the interior are quite sound. Covers are water damaged resulting in ripples along outer edges. Some mildew on front cover. Most pages water damaged along margins. Some were adhered together and had been previously separated. In some cases the margins were torn away when carelessly separated. Most all text and photos are visible, though there is some loss due to adhesion or missing / torn corners. Text block is loose at binding with some pages detached. Some pages torn with several corners missing. Musty. 10¼ x 14".
