The first 300 pages are devoted to "The Cooking School," with appropriate lessons in nutrition, cooking and simple recipes; the balance is a book of general cookery, including some European dishes, a chapter on making beverages, some alcoholic (dandelion, cowslip, rhubarb and elderberry wines, fruit brandies, etc.), a glossary of possibly unfamiliar cooking terms, and a list of questions designed to test the cooking school student. Wallace, a food lecturer and writer, produced a number of other well-known cookbooks, among them "Rumford" and "Woman's World." Cookery. Postpaid.
