Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Two volumes bound as one. Oversized hardcovers in dark brown cloth with blindstamp design, spine lettered in gilt. 232 pp. in total. Major Mordecai's report on the Military Commission to Europe pp. 1-168 plus a Table of Rifled Small Arms used in The Armies of Different Countries(pp. 169-1`76) plus 21 full page plates (one folding of "The Great Gun at Moscow) including a Plan of The Arsenal at Vienna, an engraving of the same place, and diagrams and drawings of various weaponry, gun carriages, fuzes, and shells. Schon's "Rifled Infantry Arms" is the second edition, revised and augmented and with explanatory plates, translated from the German. It comprises pp. 179-232 and there are 13 folding plates at rear showing drawings and diagrams of rifled weapons used by various European armies. Overall very good, shallow chipping at spine extremities and minor loss along the upper portion of the front gutter. Foxing to the endpapers and occacional foxing to the text.
