Condition: Very good. A very scarce collection of poetry written for the benefit of childrens education. "Edited" by Sarah J. Hale who was herself a poet eventually famous for her "Mary had a little Lamb" and her work with Godey's magazine. Illustrated with 16 uncolored 1/2 page woodcuts on 8 pages depicting many european countries. Stitch bound and covered in printed card stock wraps with ads on the rear wrap. Previous owners name at top of cover and on fly, VERY SPARSE spotting , wraps lightly soiled, a few crimped pages, spine with some fraying, but a very good copy of this scarce work.
